The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act, signed by President Obama on February 17, 2009, is intended to preserve and create jobs, promote the nation’s economic recovery, and to assist those most impacted by the recession. With the additional workforce funding provided in the Recovery Act, and the increased employment and training services such funding will support, the workforce system will play a vital role in America’s economic recovery by assisting workers who are facing unprecedented challenges to retool their skills and re-establish themselves in viable career paths. Drawing on the workforce system’s expertise in developing our nation’s workers, one-Stop Career Centers across the country will target services to meet the changing needs of workers and employers.
